Liam Gallagher was in York today, enjoying all the delights the city has to offer.

The Oasis frontman turned solo artist was enjoying a drink in the Thor’s Tipi in the grounds of the Principal York hotel when he met York resident Kim Lambert.

Kim was out with her dog Wolfie, and took the opportunity to introduce him to the singer. She told YorkMix:

I asked if my dog could have a photo with him and he was totally obliging but when I held Wolfie towards him, he growled at him.

Liam then explained he likes dogs but had had a bad experience with a poodle so if it was OK, would I keep hold of him.

Seeing the sights

Liam had a storming gig in Hull last night (Saturday 3 August), joined by a 24-piece orchestra and hundreds of dedicated for an MTV Unplugged special.

Kim said:

Liam was up very early with his family to see the sights of York such as the Shambles and Stonegate.

He thinks we are blessed and lucky to live here as it is such a beautiful city.

She said he and his family were planning a quiet evening, adding: “He was quite funny. Thankfully Wolfie liked him in the end too.”

Liam Gallagher spotted in York

LIAM Gallagher met his ten-year-old namesake when the rockstar dropped in for a drink at a York pub.

Young Liam Franks and his dad, David, were in the Windmill pub on Blossom Street, when they bumped in to the Indie Rock legend yesterday, August 4.

Speaking about the former Oasis star, David, said: "He was there for an two hours, he did photos and autographs.

"He was such a gent. Took time to talk to my son Liam."

We reported on Sunday that York resident Kim Lambert was out with her dog Wolfie when she met Liam in the grounds of The Principal hotel next to York station, where he also met another York resident Stef Blair.

Liam was in York after performing a concert at Hull City Hall on Saturday night.

He entertained crowds with an orchestra for an MTV Unplugged gig.

He may be known as one of the hard men of rock’n’roll but it seems Liam Gallagher charmed everyone he met while visiting York.

After YorkMix revealed how Liam Gallagher had spent the day in York on Sunday, Stef Blair revealed her own encounter with the Oasis frontman and solo singer.

She had taken her baby son Camden swimming at the Principal York before meeting friends Shane and Callum in Thor’s Tipi in the hotel grounds for a drink.

Stef told YorkMix: “When I went in Liam was sitting with his kids Molly and Lennon, girlfriend Debbie, a friend and a security guard. I honestly didn’t think much of it at all until I sat down beside them with Camden.”

She added:

I could see people staring at him and getting giddy! When I finally clocked on that it was Liam I was immediately star struck and knew I had to go over.

I’m not joking you when I say that he was such a cool guy. Having drinks, super chill, and willing to take pics with everyone without hesitation.

The coolest experience

Stef is from Canada and Liam told her he loved the country and is going there to play soon.

“He repeatedly told me that my sons name was epic and ‘class’ and that he would’ve held him but was afraid he mighty drop him!” she said.

Liam was looking for somewhere to watch his beloved Manchester City take on Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Stef and her wife own Thomas’s of York on Museum Street. She suggested he watch the game there in a private room with drinks on the house, but his security guard said they had already agreed to go to The Windmill on Blossom Street.

Liam was happy to pose for a selfie – Stef added:

He laughed and joked with us all and kept touching Camden’s pram. He kept saying my little boy was a proper lad with his cap on and Molly and Debbie were besotted with how cute he was.

It was honestly the coolest experience and Liam is an absolute legend. Such a nice guy and totally made our day!
