Idol - Verity was left shocked after discovering her her Liam Gallagher was waiting to surpise her

A WOMAN from Canvey was left stunned after being surprised by her idol Liam Gallagher... moments after she had unknowingly sung one of his songs to him.

Verity Mileman, 24, of Florence Road, entered a competition run by Absolute Radio several weeks ago. It asked listeners to tell them why they should win Liam Gallagher tickets.

Life-long Oasis fan Verity was selected after writing in to tell the team about buying tickets to V Festival in 2009 specifically to see the band, only for them to cancel the gig the night before due to Liam suffering from laryngitis.

It was that cancellation which eventually led to the band’s breakup.

She was invited to take part in karaoke competition on Monday, in a ‘Berry-oke” feature on Dave Berry’s radio show against another contestant, where they sung Wall of Glass.

Little did they know, they were being watched the entire time behind a real-life wall of one-way glass by 45-year-old Gallagher himself, who had snuck into the building while the pair rehearsed for their big radio performance.

Verity said: “I just froze when I first saw him - all I could think about was that I’d just murdered his own song in front of him.

“It was unbelievable, I’ve been absolutely beaming since it happened. I grew up listening to Oasis and have always dreamt of meeting him, so to have the chance to have a chat and a hug was mind-blowing.

“He was such a gentleman, it was better than I’d ever imagined it could be, even if I was a bit embarrassed.”

The shock reveal was filmed, and has since been viewed over a 100,000 times online.

Verity said: “Watching the video back of the karaoke is pretty horrific, but it’s amazing to have a record of it that I can go back and watch.

“My dad, who is a complete superfan, has been almost watching it on repeat. He’d always asked me if I ever met Liam to get him on the phone, and it was great to be able to make his wish come true.

“I was terrified before the karaoke because I’d never done anything like it before, but I couldn’t be happier with how the day turned out in the end.

“It’s definitely made up for the festival disaster in 2009.”
